A&P Group has announced its membership to RenewableUK the leading trade and professional body for the UK wind and marine renewable industries. The association currently has over 600 corporate members from across the wind, wave and tidal energy sector.
A&P Group has an established base in ship repair and conversion but has, in more recent years, worked with some of the leading companies in renewable energy. Projects have included the company’s Falmouth shipyard working alongside the South West Regional Development Agency on a £42 million Wave Hub project.
Neil Jarvis, Sales & Commercial Director, A&P Group commented:
“The A&P Group is successfully entering new markets whilst maintaining our traditional business of ship repair and conversion. Our fabrication facilities and expertise means we are in position to carry out complicated engineering projects for the offshore wind sector as well as provide services and products, such as our Dockmaster pontoons.
“Our membership to RenewableUK is a further commitment to the renewable energy sector as we expand and grow the work we carry out. We look forward to working with the association, and its members, and growing our presence further.”
A&P Group will be exhibiting at the forthcoming RenewableUK Wave and Tidal event in London on 2 March 2011 and the Offshore Wind Event at the ACC Liverpool in June 2011.
Drystan Jones, Managing Director of Marine Design Ltd a subsidiary of A&P Group commented: “A&P Group will be returning to the RenewableUK Wave & Tidal event at the QEII Conference Centre, London on 2nd March to showcase the facilities and engineering strength it provides to wave and tidal developers.
“A&P Falmouth is currently working with two wave device developers through collaborative agreements under the TSB 1 funding. We do this by applying our strengths in production engineering to the prototype developers designs in order to reduce the cost of the devices, which will hopefully increase the viability of this type of renewable energy.”
“A&P Falmouth is the closest deep water port to Wave Hub with fabrication and heavy lift facilities closest to the Wave Hub project and we are working with other key stakeholders to put Falmouth on the map, as a port of choice for wave device developers”.
