Friday 24th August 2012

A&P North East recently welcomed a number of clients to their two facilities, one on the Tees near Middlesbrough and one on the Tyne near Newcastle.  Among those visiting the Tyne yard were Van Oord, with their vessel Ham 601.  Arriving towards the end of July for a short stay the vessel underwent structural steel renewals to its carousel along with emergent repairs.  Just a few days earlier the yard bid farewell to the Acergy Osprey.  The Subsea 7 vessel having docked for 2 days to facilitate the removal of an azimuth thruster motor which will be overhauled and refitted once the work is complete.  In the meantime Acergy Osprey returned to work in the UK North Sea.

At the Tees facility the busy summer continues with dry docking and repair work on a number of dredger vessels including Arco Aron and Arco Humber, both owned by Hanson Marine along with the Cemex Marine owned Sand Falcon.

The Sand Falcon requires a 27 day repair stop. The Scope includes fabrication and fitting of longitudinal stiffening in both port and starboard voids which includes welding of approximately 420 meters of steel beams and bulbars. Additional works comprise of steel replacements, pipework and valve overhauls along with blasting and coating of main deck.
