A&P Falmouth's Slops Facilities
In 2004 A&P Falmouth in partnership with Falmouth Oil Services (FOS) opened a new slops disposal facility, capable of handling all MARPOL Annex 1 waste.
The new facility increases the waste handling capacity and gives the Port of Falmouth the ability to handle oil contaminated slops, cargo tank washings and bunker tank washings.
This not only increases business for Falmouth Oil Services but also enables vessels to discharge waste products, tank clean and gas-free before drydocking, thus reducing time and cost to shipowners.
This facility gives shipowners more flexibility in their operations providing them with slop reception at the entrance to the English Channel. Slops can be discharged, either alongside or in the sheltered inner harbour anchorage or, for large deep draft vessels, in the Falmouth Bay anchorage.
