Defence Regeneration

Our facilities in Tyneside and Falmouth are currently involved in refitting four Royal Navy vessels for the Bangladesh and Lithuanian Navies. In 2009 our Falmouth facility also completed the conversion of a former RFA landing ship into a support vessel for the Brazilian Navy.

Warship regeneration is a complex and demanding requirement. A&P Marine has responded well to this new business stream and has become the partner of choice for national and foreign navies.

Since 2007, A&P Marine has provided regeneration services for:

  • The Brazilian Navy – the Conversion of the ex-RFA Sir Bedivere into the NDCC Almirante Saboia in 2009.
  • As a subcontractor to Thales Naval Ltd, we are responsible for the  Lithuanian Navy conversion of two ex-Royal Navy Hunt Class MCMV to a highly complex mine hunting capability.
  • The recently awarded regeneration of two Castle Class OPV for the Bangladesh Navy.

The work of our specialist regeneration team also includes the installation and integration of new client-specified equipment into the overall platform of the regenerated vessel, plus training in the safe and effective operation of all equipment for the new owner’s personnel.
