Project: Dan Swift

The Dan Swift refit and dry docking was awarded to A&P Falmouth Ltd UK despite stiff competition from other European Yards.

The Dan Swift is the first of her kind; she is a mono-hull accommodation & support vessel with sophisticated DP2 system (K-Pos DP-32), for servicing the high end of the offshore market. She has the capacity to accommodate 256 offshore workers.

The Dan Swift was in Falmouth for a total of 34 days, 18 in dry dock and 16 alongside. The main work involved stripping and overhauling its three bow thrusters, two retractable thrusters and three Azimuth thrusters. All of which were removed from the vessel and transported to A&P’s extensive fitting and machining work shop.

Other works included;

Hull steel work repairs, galley drains renewed, aux generator removal and replacement, installation of noise reduction / vibration damping pillars in the accommodation, various pipe work items, hull preparation and painting.

After dry docking the time alongside was utilised performing a major upgrade of the vessels two accommodation gangways for its next charter.

Peder Chr Sørensen Superintendent for of Lauritzen commented on the dry docking;

‘’A&P Falmouth Ltd UK was chosen in competition with other north European yards for the maintenance, painting and upgrade of Dan Swift prior to a long term contract in Brazil for Petrobras. The maintenance, painting and upgrade were carried out timely and orderly without delay and to a high standard of workmanship. The cooperation with the management and the repair-teams were excellent.’’
