Refit of deepwater pipelay and multi- purpose subsea construction vessel, Deep Constructor
A&P Group were awarded the refit contract for the Deep Constructor by Technip Offshore Limited. The work was carried out at the group’s Tyne facility near Newcastle in the North East of England. The vessel was at the A&P yard for a total of 56 days to complete the heavy work schedule.
Scope of Work
Docking for a main classification renewal survey, the Deep Constructor arrived at the yard with a number of project works to be undertaken.
Key elements included;
Removal of the main Kenzcrane boom for blasting and coating,
Replacement of sheaves and winches,
Refurbishment of accommodation and Heli lounge,
Overhaul of all main and auxiliary engines,
Full overhaul of Tunnel Thrusters, Retractable Aquamaster, Azimuth Thrustersand the main propeller,
Replacement of Lifeboat falls
Complete blasting and coating for topsides, under water area and,
Various tanks steel renewals (fuel and ballast).
General Manager, Iain Campbell commented, “Another successful project for the Tyne yard. The project was completed on time, within budget and to the satisfaction of the client with no LTI’s or reportable accidents”.
