A&P Falmouth Ltd are looking to recruit a self-motivated and hardworking individual for the position of Tug Master / Trainee Marine Operations Manager based at Falmouth Docks and mainly operating within the Falmouth Pilotage Area but also on occasions undertaking coastal towage operations outside of the pilotage area.

Working as part of a team offering coverage 24/7, this position will support the marine and port operations of Falmouth. Flexibility and working of anti-social hours are essential to meet customer and operational requirements.

The role will also include the opportunity for progression and training in Marine Operations Management.

Key Responsibility of the Tug Master include:

• Overall responsibility for the safe operation of the tug and maintaing the health & safety of its crew and preventing pollution
• Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory measures, i.e. MCA and Port Marine Safety Code) and company management system
• Carry out the ship’s administration and manage all ships certification providing the Marine Operations Manager with a status report as required
• To lead, instruct and motivate the crew in a clear and concise manner
Other Duties include (but not limited to):
• Maintaining tugs charts and publications
• Mooring & Docking of vessel’s
• Counter Pollution
• Partnerships with other ports and stakeholders

Minimum Qualifications:
• STCW Master 500grt or higher
• All STCW short courses including all recent amendments
• Valid ENG1 medical

Desirable Skills:

• Previous experience of harbour and/or ‘at sea’ towage vessel operations would be ideal

• A good level of I.T. literacy

This position may be of interest to former sea-going personnel (i.e. Masters/Chief Officers) looking for a shore-based position.
