Purpose of Role:

The Project and Operations Manager is responsible to the Marine Director for managing Projects and the ship repair team to ensure that each project and the facilities agreed targets objectives are achieved. The facilities objectives include but are not limited to: Safety; Quality; Financial; Environmental.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the Team
  • Working with colleagues to ensure that customer requirements are achieved;
  • Plan and organise resources in conjunction with HR;
  • Achieve ‘smart’ targets set by the company;
  • Manage the overall facility maintaining and appraising staff performance determining career development via the Mi-reviews;
  • Provide leadership and motivational skills to ensure the facility remains in focus and on a growth, path set by the Directors;
  • Ensure that the facility operates within the Companies Act and all other legal legislation appropriate to marine industry;
  • All contracts are planned in advance and are considered within an overall yard programme.
  • Ensure that all contracts are undertaken in a diligent, professional and efficient manner within agreed parameters of HSEQ, time, and cost;
  • Liaise closely with other senior management and customers to ensure good relations are maintained and intercept in situations of conflict.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with clients;
  • Project management of individual projects from start to finish;
  • Communicate regular project updates ensuring costing and financial information is accurate;
  • Manage costing information to produce the best margins;
  • Prepare project achievement and spend details for weekly contract review meetings;
  • Ensure that the company is protected commercially, ensure liquidated damages are not applied.

  • Represent the company in a professional manner to customer’s clients and contractors.

Qualification and Experience

An Engineering qualification – preferably in marine applications.

Experience of project managing large projects.

Preferably experience gained in Marine/ Oil and Gas industry.
