SUCCESSFUL CRUISE SEASON FOR FALMOUTH

Dscf4136

Falmouth enjoyed another successful cruise season in 2019 and next year looks to be even busier.

More than 30 vessels carrying over 14,000 passengers in total chose to call in at Falmouth as part of their 2019 programme and even more have already booked for next year.

The cruise ship operations are managed by FDEC (Falmouth Docks and Engineering Company) which is part of the A&P Group. FDEC is a statutory harbour authority, responsible for the area of water immediately surrounding Falmouth Docks. FDEC offers a range of services including cruise ship operations, quayside storage, letting facilities, towage services and cargo handling services.

Drystan Jones, Port Operations Director of FDEC, said: “We already have a 20 per cent increase in cruise ship visits booked in for 2020 with a number of the ships staying overnight, a new initiative for the town of Falmouth.

“We are committed to building on the success of this year. There is good demand for our services here in Falmouth from within the cruise ship industry and the feedback we get from guests and cruise lines has been very encouraging.

“Next year we will continue to improve the cruise facilities and support the excellent welcome that the Falmouth Cruise Ship Ambassadors and the Town Councils provide. Our aim is to provide a first-class ocean gateway to the attractions of Cornwall.”

Passengers are welcomed to the port by the Falmouth Cruise Ship Ambassadors – a group of volunteers who are dedicated to providing a first-class welcome to cruise visitors who travel to Falmouth from all over the world.
