A&P FALMOUTH DONATES £5,000 TO CHILDREN'S CANCER CHARITY.

28 Jun 2021

A&P Falmouth is delighted to announce that despite the difficulties encountered due to Covid-19, it has reached its target of raising £5,000 for its Charity of the Year for 2020, Young Lives vs Cancer (formerly CLIC Sargent).

Each year A&P Falmouth choose a specific charity to support and then sets about raising as much money for it as possible. Over the past 12 months the workforce raised £2,500 which has been match-funded by A&P.

Young Lives vs Cancer was chosen following the overwhelming support A&P Falmouth's IT Manager Paul Beynon’s family received from the charity after his 15-year-old son William was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2019.

William underwent six months of chemotherapy before being given the all-clear. Paul said: “William is still doing well with his recovery. We are now having regular check-ups to make sure everything stays as it should. There have been a couple of occasions where William hasn’t felt great, but that is all part of the on-going recovery, which we know will be a matter of years rather than months.”

The family is still receiving support from nurses at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske who are on hand when help is needed with William’s routine tests and scans.

The Beynons are grateful for the fundraising support shown by the workforce and management at A&P Falmouth. “It has been great to see the fundraising going on and the generosity of the staff here at A&P,” said Paul. “It has really touched our family’s heart.”

Steve Jones, Managing Director Operations and Site Director at A&P Falmouth, said: “It is wonderful news that we have been able to meet our fundraising target of £5,000, especially considering all the restrictions that have been in place over the past year because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“All of us at A&P Falmouth were happy to get behind Young Lives vs Cancer, particularly after hearing of the fantastic support the charity has shown to Paul, William and their family. We are delighted to play our part in helping ensure the charity can be there for other families in need of their help.”
