Global ship repair, conversion and marine specialist A&P Group has appointed two new Managing Directors at its Falmouth and North East facilities.

Mike Spicer, formally Director of Operations (FDEC) and Finance Director, A&P Falmouth, has been promoted to Managing Director of A&P Falmouth, taking over from Steve Jones, who will now assume the position of Managing Director of A&P North East.

Mike Spicer joined A&P Falmouth in 2017 from Bovis Homes Group Plc, where he held the position of financial director for the Thames Valley Region.

He has also previously worked for Serco Group Plc as commercial manager and more recently as senior finance and commercial manager.

Mike is a qualified chartered accountant and holds a BSc in management from the University of Warwick.

Steve Jones has held a number of senior positions within the ship repair and shipbuilding industry.

Steve began his career with a four-year apprenticeship at Cammell Laird in Merseyside, going on to work for Grand Bahamas Shipyard before returning to Cammell Laird when he became Build Assurance Manager for the new Queen Elizabeth aircraft carriers.

In December 2012, Steve joined A&P Falmouth as Operations Director culminating in his promotion to Managing Director & Falmouth Site Director in November 2017.

Both Managing Directors will now be responsible for leading their respective facilities, which collectively employs over 650 employees and supports thousands of subcontractors.

Both Mike and Steve will also drive the growth of A&P’s apprenticeship scheme – a programme which has recruited hundreds of apprentices over the last 10 years.

David McGinley, Chief Executive Officer, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of both Mike and Steve to their new positions.

“Their combined wealth of experience will further strengthen our operations in the North East and South West of England and will enable A&P Group to continue on its growth trajectory”.
