Ambience Enters Multi-Million Pound Refit at APCL A&P Tyne

APCL A&P Tyne welcomed Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambience into drydock on Thursday, the largest ship to be drydocked on the River Tyne in over 20 years.

The vessel is a 70,285grt cruise ship, 245m in length and carries up to 1,400 guests.

Ambience will now undergo a three-week programme of technical maintenance and refurbishment works including include upgrades to the propulsion control system, engine overhauls, replacement of rudder bearings and SCR catalyst elements, and extensive steel and structural work throughout the tanks and hull areas.

A series of internal pipework, HVAC and mechanical improvements will also be completed during the dry-docking period.

The project follows the recent refit of sister ship Ambition in December at APCL A&P Falmouth. APCL Group has developed a reputation as the UK’s leading ship repair centre’s for cruise ship providers.
